This Year's Project: Norris Institute Funding

About Our Organization

Norris Institute is a non-profit corporation created to educate the public on and highlight the life of Senator George Norris. In addition, the organization undertakes projects that benefit Southwest Nebraska in other capacities.

Current Project: Norris Institute Funding

Our project this year is to raise funds to further promote the legacy of being the home of the greatest United States Senator of the 20th Century - George Norris.  The funds will be used to help fund activities and resources to help perpetuate this legacy including the Norris Breakfast during Heritage Days and copies of the several books about George Norris to provide schools and educational entities.

    Project Details

Norris Alley has been an exciting addition to the bricks - downtown McCook.  To make it an even greater place to gather, the Norris Institute would like to work on a few enhancements to the facility to increase its usage during our changing seasons.  These enhancements might include shading or some type of misting system to help alleviate heat during the summer months and firepits to help battle the cold during our colder months.

The project will construct an outdoor event facility that will be named Norris Alley. The facility will include a water feature that will serve as a memorial to the late Senator George Norris. Current plans are to have the facility available to the general public during the day with the facility available for private gatherings on a limited, reserved basis.
