This Year's Project: Making McCook the Arts and Culture Hub of Nebraska
About Our Organization
The McCook Arts Council would like to make McCook an arts destination and we need your help to make that happen.
With your donation, the McCook Arts Council is able to financially support, coordinate and promote the visual and performing arts in our community. MAC also supports the activities of our local art organization partners as they work to serve the cultural needs of this community and the surrounding area, including the McCook Concert Association, McCook Art Guild, McCook Community Chorus, Southwest Nebraska Community Theater Association, Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival and Arts in Schools.
MAC also helps fund the Sheldon Traveling Exhibit, provides scholarships for children’s workshops at the McCook Art Guild, and sponsorship for concerts such as the Simply Strings Orchestra.
But we have the potential for so much more including building-sized murals throughout the community, artist-in-residence programs and artists on display in downtown, which can all happen with your support.
Current Project: Making McCook the Arts and Culture Hub of Nebraska
McCook is on the verge of exploding...in a good way...with arts and culture on nearly every street. McCook was recently approved as a Creative Arts District, a designation from the Nebraska Unicameral. This means there are more art projects, events, ideas, plans on the horizon including monthly art events, new art locations and ideas we haven't even thought up yet.
Over the past year, the McCook Arts Council has supported the Buffalo Commons Storytelling and Music Festival, the Sheldon Traveling Art Museum Exhibit, summer youth art programs, MerryMakers at all the senior living centers....just to name a few.
Please support the McCook Arts Council to make sure these programs and more programs like them will continue in 2024. Thank you in advance for your support.
McCook's Arts and Culture Scene Expanding
Project Details
Over the past year, the McCook Arts Council has been involved in a variety of arts and culture projects, providing both financial assistance as well as guidance. Just a few projects and events in 2021 included the 20th annual Buffalo Commons Storytelling and Music Festival, the annual Simply Strings concert, and renovations at the McCook Art Guild. The community can look forward to many new innovations in 2023 including the formation of the McCook Creative Arts District and a McCook Mural Project.
