This Year's Project: School Supplies PLUS
About Our Organization
Since 1996, the Family Resource Center has provided free services to help strengthen families. The services include support and information for parents, a children’s clothing/equipment exchange program, baby food & formula, diapers/pull-ups & wipes, a library of equipment for those with special needs, support for foster families, school supply giveaway, Christmas gift assistance, free books for children, referrals to other agencies & services, toiletries & cleaning supplies, resource libraries (parenting, early childhood, & disabilities), co-sponsoring events to benefit children and families, and limited assistance for expenses not provided elsewhere.
Current Project: School Supplies PLUS
In addition to the basic school supplies that we have given away for the past 15 years, this year we added some of the extra items such as dry erase markers, highlighters, boxes of tissues, and antibacterial wipes. Our goal for this project is to help parents who are already struggling in our current financial climate.
In the past few years, we have expanded the number of clothing giveaways from 1 to 4. So we were able to provide several thousand pieces of brand new and gently used clothing to hundreds of area families. We were also able to provide free diapers, pullups, baby skincare products, and babyfood/formula to a large number of area families.
We plan to continue with 4 clothing giveaways and an infant/toddler supply giveaway, to help area families deal with the current negative financial climate. We also plan a giveaway of gently used baby/toddler equipment.
